NSW to pilot new digital ID program after recent spate of cyberattacks

Consumers will be able to do more proof-of-identity transactions with government agencies online, in a NSW pilot program. India cenbank, banks plan new features to boost digital currency

 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is working with lenders to introduce new feature s to popularise the central bank digital currency (CBDC), the so-called e-rupee, according to six people familiar with the matter. Retail CBDC transactions are averaging close to 18,000 a day, way short of the RBI's one million-a-day target by 2023 end. The features include allowing digital rupee transactions when a customer is offline and linking the e-rupee to India's popular Unified Payments Interface (UPI), three of the people quoted above said. UPI is an instant real-time payments system that allows users to transfer money across multiple banks without disclosing bank account details. The sources declined to be identified as they are not authorised to speak to the media. The RBI did not respond to an email seeking comment. PTA, TikTok join forces to bolster digital safety in schools

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and TikTok on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote digital safety in government schools across Pakistan through a multifaceted approach. The programme includes comprehensive training programmes and guidelines for teachers, parents, and students that will be covered through, workshops, seminars, webinars, awareness videos etc. to shed light on the legitimate use of social media, and tackle associated risks, according to an official statement. In attendance at this significant event were Chairman PTA, Maj Gen (retd) Hafeezur Rehman, Director General (WAD), and Director General (S&D) as well as representatives from MoITT. The Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, Pakistan at TikTok, Fahad Khan Niazi as well as the Head of Public Policy Programmes South Asia at TikTok, Zara Basharat Higgs were also present.
