Intact fossil of a 100-million-year-old plesiosaur elasmosaur found on Queensland property

She’s the Queensland outback property owner with a penchant for amateur palaeontology. But now Cassandra Prince, from the McKinlay area about 200km east of Mount Isa, has made a discovery that’s being compared to the archaeology’s famous Rosetta Stone. The discovery of the complete skeleton of an ancient plesiosaur, or extinct marine reptile, is an Australian first. A team of museum palaeontologists travelled to the remote site to collect the fossil of the elasmosaur, a type of plesiosaur that lived alongside the dinosaurs.
