Two plus-size models say they were denied entry to a Los Angeles lounge and ‘no one wants to stand up for you’

Before she even arrived at Los Angeles club The Highlight Room, model Alexa Jay had anxiety. Jay, 24, who is black and plus-size, said she has experienced discrimination at clubs, bars and parties since her freshman year of college. Pro skater and model reveals new lip after it’s ‘completely ripped off’ in pit bull attack

Professional skateboarder and Californian model Brooke Khoury lost her lip and parts of her nose when she was attack ed by a pit bull in 2020. Since then, she has been sharing the reconstruction of her face, and says with each surgery she recognises herself more. Khoury was at her cousin’s house on November 3 in 2020, patting their pit bull “and telling him how good of a boy he was” moments before the attack, she said on a YouTube video recounting the attack. UAE's G42 launches open source Arabic language AI model

A group of engineers, researchers and a Silicon Valley-based chip company collaborated to release advanced Arabic language software that can power generative AI applications. The new large language model called Jais contains 13 billion parameters that was made from a big batch of data combining Arabic and English, a portion of which is from computer code. The group, which included academics and engineers embarked, on the project in part because they said there are few large language models that are bilingual. The new language model was created with the help of supercomputers produced by the Silicon Valley-based Cerebras Systems, which designs dinner plate-sized chips that com Pet e with Nvidia's powerful AI hardware. Alibaba's cloud unit brings Meta's AI model Llama to its clients

Alibaba's  cloud computing division said it has become the first Chinese enterprise to support Meta's open-source artificial intelligence (AI) model Llama, allowing its Chinese Business users to develop programs off the model . Meta released Llama2, a commercial version of Llama, this month to provide businesses a powerful free-of-charge alternative to pricey proprietary models sold by OpenAI and Google. At the time, Meta said its preferred partner for Llama2 was Microsoft but it would also be available through other partners. “Today, Alibaba Cloud has launched the first training and deployment solution for the entire Llama2 series in China, welcoming all developers to create customised large model s on Alibaba Cloud,” Alibaba Cloud said in a statement on Tuesday published on its WeChat account.
