Reddit seeks to launch IPO in March

Social media platform Reddit has drawn up detailed plans to launch its initial public offering (IPO) in March, moving forward with a listing it has been eyeing for more than three years, according to people familiar with the matter. It would be the first IPO of a major social media company since Pinterest's debut in 2019, and would come as Reddit and its peers face stiff competition for advertising dollars from the likes of TikTok and Facebook . The offering would also test the willingness of some Reddit users to back the company's stock market debut. Apple ramps up Vision Pro production, plans February launch

Apple is ramping up production of the Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, setting the stage for a launch by February, Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday citing people with knowledge of the matter. Production of the new headset is at full speed at facilities in China and has been for several weeks, according to the report. The goal is for customer-bound units to be ready by the end of January, with the retail debut planned for the following month, the report added. The Vision Pro, priced at $3,499 launch ed in June and was expected to be available by early 2024 in the US. The company sent an email to software developers on Wednesday encouraging them to "get ready" for the Vision Pro by testing their apps with the latest tools and sending their software to Apple for feedback, according to the report. Space X reveals new date for fifth attempt at Falcon Heavy launch

SpaceX has revealed new target launch date for its triple-booster Falcon Heavy rocket, which can carry experimental space plane to orbit for the US Space Force. After four failed attempts, the rocket will launch on December 28. Previously, poor weather conditions at the launch site at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and an unspecified “side issue” on the ground, were among the few reasons that the mission was delayed from launch . The private space company will be launch ing the rocket for the eighth time in five years, and has avoided any allusions that the rocket may defects or problems in its system. OpenAI delays launch of custom GPT store to early 2024

ChatGPT maker OpenAI has delay ed the launch of its custom GPT store until early 2024, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters on Friday. During its first developer conference in November, OpenAI introduced the custom GPTs and store, which were set to be launched later that month. The company is continuing to "make improvements" to GPTs based on custom er feedback, the memo said. The delay comes against the backdrop of the startup's surprise ouster of its CEO Sam Altman and his subsequent reinstatment following threats by employees to quit. The GPTs are early versions of AI assistants that perform real-world tasks such as booking flights on behalf of a user. Meta launches AI-based video editing tools

Meta Platforms on Thursday launched two new AI-based features for video editing that could be used for posting to Instagram or Facebook. The first is called Emu Video and it generates four-second long videos with a prompt of a caption, photo or an image, paired with a description. The other is known as Emu Edit that allows users to more easily alter or edit videos with text prompts. The new tools are an advancement of the parent model Emu that generates images in response to text prompts. Apple scales back self-driving car, delays launch to 2026

Apple Inc has scaled back ambitious self -driving plans for its future electric vehicle and postponed the car's target launch date to 2026, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The iPhone maker's shares fell 2.4% following the report. The company's automotive efforts, known as Project Titan, have proceeded unevenly since 2014, when it first started to design a vehicle from scratch. Apple is now planning a less-ambitious design that will include a steering wheel and pedals and only support full autonomous capabilities on highways, the people told Bloomberg. Uber, Motional launch robotaxi service in Las Vegas

US ride-hailing firm Uber Technologies Inc and driverless tech-maker Motional said on Wednesday they launched their public robotaxi service in Las Vegas. Tough regulatory scrutiny and delayed commercial adoption of autonomous vehicle Technology have delayed deployment of robotaxi service s, leaving investors worried. The launch is part of a non-exclusive 10-year agreement between both the companies for driverless vehicles, with a rollout in Los Angeles expected to follow. Twitter Inc said on Monday it was re-enabling Twitter Blue sign ups for iOS and web users , and replacing the "official" label with a gold checkmark on some Business accounts on the social media platform. The company said Twitter Blue subscribers will get access to subscriber-only features such as the ability to edit tweets, while government accounts will get a gray checkmark. Artists can choose the song or their album to show up as a mobile banner. These songs or albums can target specific audiences from 30 markets at launch . The feature will clearly show that the banner is sponsored. Artists will be allowed to choose specific headlines for their banners. China's Baidu launches $145 million venture capital AI fund

SHANGHAI: Chinese search giant Baidu Inc will set up a venture capital fund of 1 billion yuan ($145 million ) to back start-ups focused on content generated by artificial intelligence applications, it said on Wednesday.
