Cameras left by famous Yukon explorers found after 85 years with fascinating photos

In 1937, American explorer Bradford Washburn abandoned a cache of heavy equipment, including cameras, while attempting to climb Mount Lucania in the Saint Elias Mountains of northwestern Canada. Washburn and his friend Bob Bates had to make their way back to civilization through the harsh Yukon wilderness when the weather made it unsafe for a pilot to pick them up, as chronicled in “Escape from Lucania,” a book by David Roberts. Two sentences of that book stuck in the mind of professional skier Griffin Post: According to Roberts, Washburn was heartbroken to leave behind his cameras and always wanted to go back to get them. iPhone users warned over Apple iCloud email scam threatening to delete all photos

Apple customers are being targeted by cyber criminals in a new email scam claiming they could lose all of their photos and iCloud memories. The phishing email claims to be from Apple’s iCloud service, which stores photos , files and backups across all Apple devices, and states the recipient must “take action” or “your photos and videos will be deleted”. Parents warned to protect children’s privacy when posting back-to-school photos

Parents are being warned to be extra vigilant about privacy when posting back- to- school photos online over grooming fears. Identifying details such as a child ’s name, school logo or location can pose a risk, according to Australian Federal Police. “Any information, however seemingly innocent, can make it the easier for offenders to build a profile of a child with the intention of grooming them,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Hilda Sirec said.
