Microsoft’s Edge Copilot can’t summarise every YouTube video

This week Microsoft AI CoPilot has added a new feature to Edge browser that will generate text summaries of YouTube video s. The time-saving feature, however, is limited and only works on pre-processed video s or those with subtitles. Mikhail Parakhin, Microsoft’s CEO of advertising and web services has explained, “In order for it to work, we need to pre-process the video . If the video has subtitles - we can always fallback on that, if it does not and we didn’t preprocess it yet - then it won’t work.” The Edge Copilot doesn’t seem to summarise video s in comparison to summarising text transcripts of video s. The feature is also available on Microsoft 365, summarizing Teams video meetings and calls for customer service agents. They all require audio transcription by Microsoft first. Meta launches AI-based video editing tools

Meta Platforms on Thursday launched two new AI-based features for video editing that could be used for posting to Instagram or Facebook. The first is called Emu Video and it generates four-second long videos with a prompt of a caption, photo or an image, paired with a description. The other is known as Emu Edit that allows users to more easily alter or edit videos with text prompts. The new tools are an advancement of the parent model Emu that generates images in response to text prompts. Emu underpins a generative AI Technology and some AI image editing tools for Instagram that lets one take a photo and change its visual style or background. New Google tool creates video with text

Google launched a text-to- video artificial intelligence (AI) tool, called Imagen Video, right after Meta released its own tool "Make a Video". The tool will be able to produce video s at 24 frames per second in 1280x768, entirely from a written prompt. With this tool in beta mode, users can create fantasy buildings and Pixar-style monsters. Tourists in TikTok video slammed for taking part in ‘sunbed wars’

A number of tourists have been criticised online after they were captured on video racing to claim sunbed s at a pool hotel before it had even opened. A TikTok user by the name of Thomas Clifford, who was holidaying in Tenerife in Spain with his family, posted the video with the caption: “Sunbed wars. My wife told me that everyone races each morning to get sunbed s, I didn’t believe her!” Clifford shows his watch in the video, showing the time of 7:47am. A group of people with beach towels in their hands can be seen waiting for the hotel’s pool area to open. Google Meet to now offer 1080p on video calls

Google Meet is now rolling out 1080 resolution on its video calls , as it strives to com Pet e with Zoom and Microsoft Teams which already offer HD video resolutions. The new update is available only for the web currently and requires a camera with 1080p capabilities and is limited to two-person meetings. The feature has been made available for paid Google Meet versions along with Google One subscribers with at least 2TB of storage. Reddit to introduce TikTok style video feed

Reddit will soon be launching two separate feeds for text and video s. The video s will be available in the Watch feed view section, whereas the text-based posts will be in the Read Feed. Users will be able to view the video posts from their subscribed channels and other recommended options. The reason behind introducing the video style feed is the gaining popularity of this medium. TikTok might be working on paywalled videos

TikTok is continuing to make the platform attractive for creators as it is reportedly working on paywalled video s and a creator fund. As per the reports, the new paywall update will allow creators to set a price on their content. The producers can charge $1 or any other amount of choice to enable the audience to watch their videos. As of now, it is still being determined how the system will work, but TikTok is trying to target the older audience in the US amid the growing restrictions. The short video platform is also working on revamping its Creator Fund. TikTok had previously launched a Creator Fund in 2020, with a $1 billion pool of money that pays creators for popular video s for three years. After receiving some backlash, the revamped model will try to reach out to more content creators. US man falls to his death in Puerto Rico while trying to film TikTok video

A US man who fell 20 metres off a cliff in Puerto Rico while filming a TikTok video has died. Edgar Garay was sightseeing at Cabo Rojo, located on the island’s southwest coast, when he fell on Sunday afternoon. The 27-year-old’s brother Carlos Garay said a cousin warned Edgar not to get too close to the edge of the cliff, WTHR reports. Twitter Blue to include higher ranking replies, 60-min videos

Twitter Blue paid subscription now has newly added perks with "prioritized ranking s in conversations" and video uploads of 60 minutes in length. The features had been promised to Blue subscribers by Elon Musk last month, but the update is rolling out now. According to Twitter's Support page, the priority reply "prioritizes your replies on Tweets that you interact with", as the tweet replies will appear at the top of the page. The priority ranking s are aimed to "help lower the visibility of scams, spam and bots."
