Kayaker goes on angry rant after getting caught on fishing line in Sydney Harbour

An unassuming kayaker has had his leisurely paddle ruined after a fisherman hooked him on his line in Sydney Harbour.

In a TikTok video posted on the popular fishing page Spin King, the fisherman and a friend can be seen reeling in the kayaker to release his tackle.

The kayaker questions why the men can’t cut the line and release him, but one of the anglers standing near the Sydney Harbour Bridge quickly replies.

“I’ve got some expensive gear on there,” the angler says.

He then begins an angry rant at the fishermen after his kayak topples over and he falls into the water.

“You f***ing tw*t!” he shouts from the water.

“Don’t bring it in anymore. You’ll damage the f***ing boat.

“I can’t get it off. You’re going to have to f***ing cut it.

“F***ing hell, I told you I was coming around.”

The anglers have to cut the line to release the kayak.

Social media commenters had a laugh at the ordeal and said it was the “catch of a lifetime”.

“I hooked a diver once, he put up a good fight,” said one person on TikTok.

“At least you can tell everyone that you’ve caught a 14 footer,” another person said.

Others were less sympathetic for the kayaker.

“Looks like a lot of water to float your boat down. I wouldn’t choose in front of the fisherman myself. Bet he’s taking a shortcut and sooking about it,” wrote one.

“Cyclist of the ocean. They see your line out, yet still come in close, and when they get your line, it’s your fault,” added another.
